Jody Middleton - Founder of Nourish VA
My name is Jody, and I love admin.
I was told a while back not to treat that as a guilty secret — so now I shout it from the rooftops.
I'm a Virtual Assistant specialising in helping those in the health and wellness industry. But unlike most VAs, I'm a Registered Nutritional Therapist myself. I have 10 years' experience in the industry, having set up and run my own nutritional therapy business specialising in eating disorders. These days I've gone back to my roots and built a Virtual Assistant business instead — giving me the chance to work across the two industries I love: administration and wellness.
That means when you work with me, you're not explaining your world from scratch. I already understand the pressures of running a practice, the language of your industry, and what "good" looks like for your clients — so I can take the admin off your plate properly, not just tick boxes. Less overwhelm, fewer late nights, more time for the work you actually trained to do.
A bit about me…
When I was 19, I joined the energy company EDF Energy as PA to the EA to the CEO. I learned so much in that role, and just four years later I was promoted to Executive Assistant. Being right hand woman to a hard-working, fairly relentless CEO at 23 was exhilarating — if a little tiring.
“Age 23, right hand woman to a relentless CEO. Exhilarating — if a little tiring.”
I went on to have my own PA and manage the entire Executive PA team, which I thrived at.
When I became pregnant with my first child six years later, my husband and I knew we wanted to move out of London. We also knew we couldn't both commute once we had children, so I took the opportunity to step back from the corporate world and study something I was genuinely passionate about: nutritional therapy.
I studied for four years (and had two babies along the way!) before setting up my own practice, working from home and at my local GP surgery. A few years in, I trained further to specialise in working with clients with eating disorders, and later began training as a Counsellor too.
Like everyone, I found 2020 difficult — running my own business, home-schooling my children, and dealing with some family health issues all at once. My client work started to feel draining rather than fulfilling. Life felt hard enough without my business making it harder. I knew something had to give.
After a lot of thought and soul-searching, I realised that the part of running my nutrition business I found easiest — and most fulfilling — was the admin side. I loved setting everything up and getting the right systems in place, something not every practitioner enjoys. It took time to admit it, but once I did, I knew exactly what I had to do to be happy.
“Turns out the part of running a nutrition business I loved most wasn’t the client work — it was the admin. That’s when Nourish VA was born.”
About an hour after I made that decision, an advert describing my perfect role landed in my inbox. My first client was signed up within 48 hours. The stars had aligned.
I now live in Kent with my husband, two teenagers (🤪), a dog, three cats, three sheep, three goats, ten chickens, and a gecko. I love our little smallholding, and spend my spare time in the garden tending to the veg patch and the animals.
The Team
I'm now fortunate enough to have more work than I can handle alone, so I've built a wonderful team of fellow ex-nutritional therapists and health professionals to support even more clients. I'm incredibly proud of this team, and I can guarantee their work is of the very highest standard.
